Pretty As A Peacock is a recent addition to my Flower Series.
People use orchids for many different purposes. Substances isolated from orchids are used to manufacture perfumes, spices and in traditional Asian medicine.Vanilla is extracted from the pod of the Vanilla planifolia, which is a species of orchid plant.In Asian countries the orchid has been used for medicinal purposes for over a thousand years.It is still used today in other cultures as well where it is thought to help cure wounds,aches,headaches,fevers,
coughs,and many different ailments.
Certain species of orchids are parasitic.
They are not able to produce food using the sunlight and carbon dioxide. Instead, they obtain food from fungi that live inside their roots.
This unique flower is known for it's symmetrical petals and exquisite beauty.
