Description
Standing there watching him fishing in the fog had such a surreal feel. I wanted to bring forth some of what I felt when I watched him. Such an ordinary simple act yet beautiful in it's own way. I've always loved the look and feel of cyanotypes. I was lucky enough to experience doing them by hand while I was still in college. We had a wonderful time coating paper and then exposing it in the window in the sunlight to expose the tones. You could use almost any paper with a tooth to it that would hold up to the washing afterwards. Had to be a decent thickness and we used spray starch to size the paper. We would dry it and coat it with the chemicals that were the emulsion layer. When exposed it would look very much like this image but with irregular borders from the paintbrush which only added to the effect:)
